The larger Artemis frame places a photograph within a border of hand-inlaid bone tiles arranged in a quiet chevron pattern. The light-toned surface has the gentle variation of a natural material, giving the frame presence without making it overly ornate.

Sized for an 8 × 10 inch portrait or print, it is substantial enough to stand alone on a console or bookshelf. An easel back and two hanging rings allow a vertical or horizontal arrangement, making the frame useful as rooms and photographs change.

"I prefer an important photograph to have a frame of comparable substance. The broader Artemis border provides that sense of occasion, but the restrained geometry keeps the picture as the main attraction."

-Mrs. Mayfair

Maker / Heritage

Founded by Manish Gupta and Ruchi Agrawal, Matr Boomie began in 2006 as Handmade Expressions and adopted its present name in 2013. Based in Austin, the design company works in partnership with artisan communities in India, bringing established craft traditions to objects intended for daily use.

Its picture frames reflect the patient skills of inlay and hand-carving, where small differences in natural material and handwork give each piece its individual character. The work combines practical modern fittings with the knowledge of the craftspeople who make the decorative surrounds.
